DRUMTOCHTY CASTLE WEDDING SCOTLAND
From Xan:
Weddings in the Deep South are crazy expensive and insanely stressful. So Jonathan and I decided to run away to get married. We chose a gorgeous castle in Scotland—it sounded like it would be a ton of fun, it was cheaper than Birmingham, and we knew our best friends and closest family members would fly out to be with us. We wanted our wedding to be relaxed and fun, to have time with our guests, and for our guests to have time together to become friends. That is exactly what we got with our sweet, romantic, Scottish castle wedding. It was honestly one of the best days of our lives, if not the best day. We got to spend time with everybody nobody was rushing us around, and we were in a beautiful place with all of our favorite people and an incredible team who made the wedding happen. We could not have asked for a more perfect wedding, and we would not change a single thing.
From Jonathan:
It is every boy’s dream to be a knight in a castle and this is why I always dreamed of one day getting married in one. Every time I mentioned this dream, however, the response was the same: “The woman you marry will never be up for that”. Fast forward to wedding planning. Xan, my fiancé, and I were looking at venues. Nothing seemed to fit so I “jokingly” sent a picture of a Scottish castle. To my surprise she loved the idea! After realizing a castle wedding was actually affordable and possible, everything fell into place. I learned two lessons through this: firstly that you should always share your dreams and be honest, the worst thing they can say is no. Secondly that cutting a cake with a sword in a castle is even more fun than you would think.
